Just about a year ago, I noted that this post on Little Details has been getting comments from hapless anons who think it is a forum for discussing what it's like to live with a broken pelvis.

They're still going. The last anonymous comment was made today.

I believe I have previously PMed the owner of the original post to ask if they could friends-lock the entry, but got no response.

And I have a feeling it's only going to get worse. This post is now on the second page of results for "broken pelvis" on Google.

Way back when the Internet was new (to me), I got involved in a LD-type discussion on rec.org.sca about medieval poisons. Was there really anything available in medieval times that would be instantly lethal, that sort of thing. I put in my two bits' worth, the discussion eventually fizzled out as these things do, and I forgot all about it.

Years later, I got an email, out of the blue, from a lady who thought her husband was poisoning her and wanted my advice. Apparently somebody had archived the whole discussion and she'd found my email address there while looking for poisons info.

The symptoms she described were pretty consistent with long-term arsenic poisoning, including one very specific one (eyes smelling of garlic). So either she really was being poisoned, or she was an attention-seeker who'd done her homework. I recommended she save hair samples and talk to the police about it, and never heard back from her after that.

Vaguely disconcerting!

Next time I want life advice, I feel like I should pick a random livejournal community and post my question in an entry three years old. As a bonus, this will ensure I am much less likely to receive 'helpful' overtures from certain regulars of some of the *actual* advice comms. This plan is flawless!

This one, omg. I mean, I feel for them, I do, but they're not just thinking it's a broken pelvis forum, they're asking what they think is a broken pelvis forum for help with their lovelife.

Some of them seem to be coming back over and over, but I don't think they're reading anything. It's weird (and vaguely reminds me of a performance art piece I once saw, about human nature intersecting with technology.)

I like the one from LJ too, the "this is such a random blog" one on page 2, because she's obviously looked at the comm but still didn't figure it out.

No, they can't lock it down! I need to know HOW long it takes for a BOWEL MOVEMENT to occur!

(I feel bad for these people, but wtf, that is not how the Internet works.)
