"For all you X out there..."
Dec. 28th, 2019 05:04 pmOne thing that I find off-putting about Tumblr culture:
People will share content that comes from a $minority group and say "for all my $minority followers!"
It's like ... performing inclusivity. It makes it seem like they only think it's worth sharing because it's inclusive. It makes it a gesture rather than ... just something worth sharing on its own. It still centers $majority. It became rather noticeable around the holidays, with people reblogging things "for my Jewish followers" but... you know, Christmas content isn't singled out as being "for my Christian followers."
Maybe it's got my hackles up because most of the examples I've seen lately are from people who aren't members of $minority. (It reads different when they are.)
Tumblr is weird.
