Toying with the idea of re-opening little_details

Back when dinosaurs still roamed, I used to moderate an LJ community called little_details. It was a place where writers could ask fact-checking questions like: Does this name work? How do I say this in French? Do these action figures have enough joints that my character could set them up as though they're 69ing each other?

At its height, it was extremely active. It was a really great resource. But it more or less died with fandom on LJ.

I created an alternative here but never followed through on opening it up. The intention was to do so when the version on LJ died, but it didn't die suddenly; it was gradual, and then the momentum was gone.

I think it would be great to open it back up, but I think it needs a little momentum to get it started. If you're reading this, would you be interested?

Do you have ideas about how I could promote it?

Would you be willing to make a post about it for your own reading list?

I am not a big name in fandom, having been mostly a lurker for a long time. So I don't have very many channels to promote on here.

I'd probably use it and promote it. You could advertise on Fictional Fans, and a couple of the other advertisement comms. I used to use the LJ one all the time.

I'd absolutely use and promote it! I need to get hanlin_academy up and running but I kind of feel it needs some starter content and like, oh god I don't want to mod.

Embarrassingly, my biggest contributions to fandom have been being a once-upon-a-time mod of a couple of big fandom communities (little_details was one). I don't mind it, and I've got some useful experience at this point.

I can't offer DW promotion, not having much of a presence, but I could mention it in the notes of fics posted on AO3. You might encourage authors to do the same if they used the resource.

Fond memories of the original. So much weird knowledge.

The largest places to promote it on DW is probably the anon memes, like fail_fandomanon, and the exchange circuit like yuletide.

Yes, I think this is a great idea! There are a few advertising comms that might be helpful, like fandomcalendar, and fandom_on_dw. I would also be happy to promote it to my followers on my journal (and other places, if that seems worthwhile).

I remember the original and I think reviving it is a great idea. I'd be happy to pimp it wherever I have an account.

If you want to make an official promo graphic for us to include in our posts, that might be a keen idea.

This sounds like a good idea! I'd definitely promote it and others here have already mentioned some good comms for promo.
