Guardian, final episodes

So, I would've been real mad if I wasn't the type of person who looks up spoilers immediately as soon as I get into a thing. I knew we weren't going to get a happily ever after, and I'm all right with imagining my own.

I will say this:

The last episodes of this show pulled out all of the stops when it comes to tropes, and I loved it.

I mean, Shen Wei. Yes.

So hurt. So determined.

I also love that there was payoff from his earlier decision to help Zhao Yunlan with the longevity dial. To be honest, the writing has been incoherent and inconsistent at times, so I was pleasantly surprised that they planted that so early.

The subtitles have been a bit of a struggle, but also a delight.

I love the ambiguity of it. Is it a regent who is an ass? Or is it a man who rules over asses? BOTH?

I am such a sucker for just about everything that happened to Shen Wei in the last episodes, except for the part where he dies. XD

Maybe if I'm still into this after I finish my dissertation I can write a fix-it where he doesn't (but he still gets to suffer of course).
