The big linguistics communities on Reddit are better than you'd expect, in part due to really firm policies re: typical Reddit nonsense. They don't entertain antifeminist nonsense that's been debunked a million times by basic research, for example.

My experience is that this is often followed by some piece of trivia, like the existence of evidentiality, that's been misunderstood and then given some kind of semi-mystical cultural spin. "Did you know that some languages make you say how you know something? Imagine how it would change journalism!" They aren't thrilled when you point out Turkey.
